The KAIA to Makkah Journey


King Abdulaziz International Airport is located approximately 80km northeast of Makkah. The journey takes approximately 60 minutes under normal traffic conditions, and up to 2.5 hours during Hajj season or peak Ramadan nights.


Route: Jeddah–Makkah Expressway (Route 40)


The primary route from KAIA to Makkah is Route 40, also known as the Jeddah–Makkah Expressway. It is a well-maintained multi-lane highway with no tolls. The route passes through Al-Haramain High Speed Railway stations, offering a modern corridor between the two cities.


**Note**: Non-Muslims are not permitted to enter Makkah. Saudi police maintain checkpoints on all entry roads. Only Muslims may proceed to Makkah city center and Masjid al-Haram.

Terminals at KAIA
